Big benefits as MYOB rebrands Advanced Business to Acumatica

Those with an ear to the ground may have noted that MYOB is rebranding the popular Advanced Business product to more closely resemble the underlying ERP on which it is built. That ERP is Acumatica, an American product doing exceptionally well in its domestic market.

And as MYOB rebrands to Acumatica, we at Verde Group have re-organised and rebranded, too. Some time ago we introduced Avanza Solutions, established as a distinct company and operating entity within the Verde Group. You guessed it, Avanza Solutions has a sole focus on MYOB Acumatica and related software that helps you get the most from your MYOB instance.

Before going into further detail, it’s worth examining why MYOB has changed Advanced Business to Acumatica (and perhaps peeking into why it was called Advanced Business in the first place).

Acumatica's ERP is built on a proprietary web-based platform and is available on-premises, in the cloud, or as hosted Software as a Service on AWS, Azure and SQL Azure. How good is Acumatica? Good enough to attract more than ten thousand customers.

We’ll start with why the software was renamed for our corner of the world.

Back in 2014, MYOB struck a deal with Acumatica, rebranding its software for local distribution as Advanced Business. There were and are some differences between Acumatica and Advanced Business, as the standard software required modification to account for local business and HR rules and processes.

And for the next 11 or so years, things went pretty well.

Building on a brand (which is gathering momentum)

More recently, Acumatica is shooting out the lights in America. The brand is growing, name recognition and reputation is growing, and more customers and prospects are asking about or for the solution.

You know where this is going: branding is gold. Sometimes quite literally, because building a brand can be seriously expensive.

By going straight back to where it came from, and renaming to Acumatica, MYOB is taking advantage of and building on the great strides being made over on the other side of the Pacific. Just like, say, NetSuite doesn’t have a different name in Australasia, Acumatica now doesn’t either.

There are direct benefits for you, too

There’s a bit more to it than just rebranding; along with that, being more direct about the relationship means joining global networks, potentially accessing specialist skills and resources as required, and solidifying Acumatica as the ‘ERP’ bit within the MYOB stable (which includes several products more suitable for smaller companies – like MYOB Business and MYOB AccountRight).

What that boils down to is more support resources, as we’re joining a thriving community of 141,451 other Acumatica users. It means access to Acumatica Community Forums, populated by real people offering meaningful conversations and valuable insights from the coal face. (Ther are already more than 16,000 topics.) Participate in daily community discussions and dozens of community-lead responses to ‘anything and everything you could possibly ask’ – and as you’re experts too, make your own contributions. Of course, the MYOB development teams will continue working on Acumatica for our local requirements, while providing any support necessary as they’ve done for years.

Avanza Solutions is the Verde Group Acumatica specialist
